The 69 Squareback has no brake lights working right now.
Fuse #7 keeps blowing. I've isolated the wire coming from the fuse block that is causing it to blow. It is a heavy gauge black wire. When I unplug it, all the signal lights work as do the flashers. Only the brake lights cease working. If I hook the wire back up, the fuse blows as soon as I turn the key on.

I disconnected the wires from the brake switch on the master cylinder, still blew.

I disconnected the brake lights themselves, still blew.

The only other thing the wiring diagram suggests to me (I don't read them very well) is possibly the turn signal switch on the column. ???

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

not very familiar with the type 3s but....sounds like you have a pinched wire somewhere between the fuse box and the brake light switch.

Was anything done on the front of the car recently?

New tie-rod end, but nothing near where the wires run.

After talking with Pete and reading your post, I too am pretty sure there is an unhappy wire in the dash area.

The offending wire was the one for the horn. I'm still not sure where it is grounding, but once I disconnected the wires from the horn the fuse quit blowing.

No horn, but all the lights work as they should. Very Happy

Try another horn sounds like it shorted. I had a Chrysler that did that GB
