After much discussion at lunch, i figured I'd post some pictures to help clarify and add some activity to the forum.
2 types of fuel filler necks:
My 76 has the top one, and I am in need of the "J" hose. I could not find a reference as to when VW made the change. Some people have improvised like this:
Jon, is the extra metal hose you have like the one below?
I think the hose Clyde has is the shorter one like in the assembled pictures above or in comparison below, I think this is also the hose Jon was mentioning could be substituted with a Mercedes sprinter hose as shown...Does this sound correct?

I have the top one as well, I bought some heavy duty hose from gates that the samba suggested to get the bends. _________________ 1969 Beetle
