hi there guys. im tito. i drive a 73 standard type one for the moment. i say for the moment b/c its my girls car, she is letting me drive it until i save enough to get my own. ive already sold my jetta and now i need to sell my ranger so i can get my dream car....a pre-67 beetle! ive wanted one of these since i was 4 and saw herbie. and since i drive a fat chick everyday it makes it even worse! gawd! anyhoo, i think ive found a candidate in florida - a 54 oval w/o the semaphores (thieves!) in patina decor. only i havent got a shop to fix it up in. maybe i should just save my pennies a bit longer so i can buy a betty that doesnt need assembling? anyone have any suggestions about a prefered year model and type? _________________ 59 std monster

well, i just got found out the 54 was for sale 13 hours before it sold. and that blows. but there is a guy in athens with a fixer upper 68 harlequin beetle http://athensga.craigslist.org/car/597692924.html
and there is also this bug in statham
http://athensga.craigslist.org/car/587882259.html
maybe i could pick them both up and have enough for a complete bug....minus the whale fin of course....and the harlequin colors.....and the mexi-rims, hehe. _________________ 59 std monster

Welcome tito. There's lots of pre '67s available. don't get into much of a hurry and end up with a clunker with no where to work on it. Here's a good place to start looking. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/cat.php?id=1 Also, someone from the club may have some suggestions. _________________ Ya can't have too many VDUBS.

Jake (Raby) has a 60 model for sale. $2500.00
As listed on the BK forum:
Solid restoration project.
It has a 40 HP engine installed that runs and has a functional tranny.
It runs and drives but would need a full brake job. This would make a perfect resto project as the car is 90% original and intact as well as solid. _________________ Beth Raby |

My guess is there will be 2 groups cruising to Chattanooga on Friday. I'll be going in my Ford van, camping and vending. I might leave work early so I can leave around 2 or 3pm.
Beware of the multicolor bug- no decklid means water in the engine- not an easy fix-even with a garage. _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

To continue with what Clyde said, there is a reason those two ads have been on Craig's list so long......they are parts cars at best and overpriced too.
I have a 60 Euro Bug for sale. It is currently my daily driver, but my Thing will be back on the road this week. Shoot me a PM if you want know more about my bug or click here http://atlanta.craigslist.org/car/614293398.html.
Whatever you decide to do, remember you'll come out better buying something as complete as you can afford than buying a total project.
Just my 2 cents. _________________ 73 Typ481
