Hey guys, thought I 'd get a few opinions here. I just got a great deal on a webber progressive, and by great deal I mean FREE! Its complete with manifold and all. I've already cleaned and built it. I cant decide what to do with it. My bug is stock 1600dp other then a little header. Its got an H30/31 that I jetted alittle. It runs like a sewing machine and gets average 28 mpg. My gut and my wallet is sayin leave the damn thing alone but a few more ponies would be nice and I hate to waiste a good find. I know duals are better hands down but this is what I got .

Trust your gut. Sell it on the samba for $75.00. Lower your price by $10 every two weeks until it sells.

Dual carbs won't do much for you unless you have a cam that will take advantage of it, or at least ratio rockers. And higher compression.

The guy that gave it to you was the smart one.. He got the deal.
I hate that carb more than any other VW part I can think of...

Regretfully, I have rebuild kits for them coming any day now. I've had at least ten people requesting weber progressive rebuild kits. I feel kinda like I'm selling cigarettes to minors Rolling Eyes

Hey, there's a market for everthing right? I heard if you take the time to jet them right they can be decent. But not very efficient. I think my h30 is pretty efficient . I drive 75 miles a day round trip on I20 running about 75-80 mph. 28mpg aint bad for a car I drug out of a field it had been sittin in for 16yrs. I got a buddy who has a bus he's building a motor for.He also has some nice rabbit seats I got my eye on. Maybe he likes 2bbl. We'll find out. Idea
The dude also gave me a complete 1600dp w/ small stud case. I'm sure I will need a build so maybe I'll build me a spare motor Smile
