|Hey everybody just to inform you, Sunday and most of Monday there was forum and loading issues on our website. I contacted Cliff Aiken who if you don't know is sponcering the webspace for our site. Cliff forwarded an e-mail from the web server admins, discribing whats causing all the problems. I have listed it below for your information.
Dear Valued Customers:
This evening at 4:55 in The Planet’s H1 data center, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding their electrical equipment room. Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.
They have just been allowed into the building to physically inspect the damage. Early indications are that the short was in a high-volume wire conduit. They were not allowed to activate thier backup generator plan based on instructions from the fire department.
This is a significant outage, but only impacted 1 of our servers mysql3.ourinternet.us. All members of The Planet’s support team are in, and all vendors who supply them with data center equipment are on site. Their initial assessment, although early, points to being able to have some service restored by mid-afternoon on Sunday. Rest assured they are working around the clock.
There is no impact in any of our other five data centers or servers.
I am sorry that this accident has occurred and apologize for the impact.
