Well guys and gals.
I got rid of one noise and got another. Two weeks ago I removed my engine to change my transmission seal. The whole process went without any major problems and to my happy surprise the annoying squeaking noise ( sounded like nails on chalkboard) that I use to get when I got around 50 MPH went away. So a week went by and I drove "little blue" to the Locos Deli and back. On the way home when I slowed down for a stop sign I noticed that my oil pressure light was blinking. When I speed up the light turned off. When I got home and shut off the car I heard a noise like the noise you get from a slipping belt the moment I turned the key. I did a little reading and didn't find anything so I did the next best thing Called Clyde. ( note. Forgot to tell Clyde about the squeak ) Clyde informed me that I ran my car to hard and for too long. ( I have to agree 75mph to Loco's and 75mph from Locos) Stupid me. Well on Clyde’s suggestion I changed my oil from 10W 30 to 20W 50. Man I noticed the difference (Less oil puddles under car) But I still have the squeaking sound when I turn off the car. I will try to capture it on video later. and post. But for now does anybody have a suggestion what it is. Oh and by the way It’s one of those noises that only sounds when no one else is listening. Maybe I can trick it with a camera.

I get that same squeaking sound when I shut the engine off in the bus - like a squealing belt - not while I'm driving but when I shut it off. I'm pretty sure it's not from doing 75 though. _________________ '67 Westy (Ursula)

James,
1 What did you eat at Loco's? never mind....
2 Try wiggling the fan shroud while the engine is running- it might be the fan hitting the shroud? Just a guess. _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

Could it be an early reminder that the generator is going? _________________ 71 Standard Beetle "Big Bird"

Chicken Quesadilla
And I can get it to squeak when I engage the clutch. _________________ 1963 Beetle

Maybe it's the throwout bearing? _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

The bearing looked good to me when I was replacing the seal.
Maybe I didn't adjust the clutch pedal anough. I will see if I can get someone at the campout to check my work. _________________ 1963 Beetle
