ok I tore down my first tranny. Not as bad as everybody make sit out to be. Took a lot of pics and some video. Now does anybody (jake) have any ideas on some good gear ratios. I plan on putting one of Jakes t-4's in and do a little road racing. Not gonna ba an everyday driver. Any help will be appreciated.

They are dependant upon RPM range of the engine, peak torque and rear tire height Vs. the speed you want to go..

Where are you going to race?? Road racing is tranny dependant, we have 5 different gearboxes for the 914 for different tracks/ engines....

I will probably do most of it at road atlanta. The motor will be one of your kits in the neigbor hood of 180-200 hp. Tire size is 16. speed-- well fast with my hair peeled back

thanks jake

I hope you have some big balls.. Coming down the hill at RA turn 11 with 200 HP would beunreal in a Ghia... even in a 914 thats amazing..
and good brakes Wink

I can work out ratios with you based on the engine and tires..

Got some big 'uns if mom will let me have them back. hahahah I will get with you at the show and see if we can come up with something. I do know for sure what size the wheels will be . I would like to go with a bigger brake but dont know what will fit on the car . I need to do some research on that.

I cannot remember were i saw this but thought it was pretty good: understeer is when u hit the wall with the front-end, oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear-end, horsepower is how hard you hit the wall and torque is how far you push the wall.

Wheel size is unimportant, the hight of the tire multiplies the final drive ratio of the tranny....

Lets talk..
