To help me get the stupid nut off the rear drum!
Crap that thing is tight I jumped up and down on it for 30 minutes and it didnt budge. Any tips on removing it? I need to replace the wheel cylinder before I drive anymore. |

You need an impact. To loosen it and tighten it. If you don't get it tight enough it will strip the splines and it won't go. _________________ Shane Price

just my 2 cents-it is good to use an impact to take off but a torque wrench should be used to put on-and torque to proper specs--home depot has a cheaper impact but i would get one from sears -a craftsmen is good and pretty strong- ok that was 3 cents lol-maybe it is different for vw-dont know that is just what i was tought and practiced at hayes dodge when i worked their ! _________________ flat black 68 with biggies on back skinny up front- no power and i dont need wax!!!always ready for icecream !!! |

You worked at Hayes? . . I work at an independent shop in Conyers and we get parts from Hayes. Anyway.Thats what all techs are tought in the begining. But no one does that . At least no techs that I know. I have hammered on thousands of axle nuts of all manufacturers and had zero problems . Besides it torques to over 200 ft lbs. You wont use that torque wrench very much. I run it down and give it 2-3 good bursts and put the pin in it. It will be fine. Don't get me wrong Scott, I understand being carefull. But from my experience you will have more problems from under torque then over. _________________ Shane Price

I've got the torquemiester tool that makes easy work of removing and re-torqueing the axle nuts. You are welcome to borrow it. (if and when I get it back.....hello...Mark? ) _________________ 73 Typ481
