I have installed a new master cylinder and one new wheel cylinder on a 67 bug. I have no more air bubbles when bleeding the system, but I can't build any pressure. The shoes are adjusted out. What am I missing?

After reading several threads on the Samba, I'm pretty sure there is still air in the MC. Read a couple of techniques to bleed the MC on the car. I'll try them tomorrow.

How are you bleeding it Jon? Are you having someone pump it while you open the bleeders at the wheels? I f so, is it skeeting fluid when you do so? You can usually gravity bleed a mc. Just crack the lines at the mc and let it drip for a min. Or have some one push petal down when you crack the lines. If you need a hand sunday give me a buzz.

Yes. I was doing the pump and hold. I got to where there was only fluid coming out, but it was only running out, not shooting out. I'll try the gravity bleed, if that doesn't work, I read a couple other things to try. Thanks Shane. I'll give you a call if I can't get it. Cool

Did you ever find out if there was a yellow sticker on the box? Scott's had one. I'll need the box to return it.

There's a possibility of a bad batch here.

I've got a few from a different vendor on the shelf here, with a different # on the casting.

I've been gone all day working on the Poker Run route ( 300 miles of riding ) , so I haven't looked for the box yet. Most of the threads on the Samba say the MC needs to be bled before hooking it up. I found a couple of ways to do it while it is in the car and Shane gave me a way to do it. I'll try all that first.

Why didn't you bench bleed it?
If the pushrod is over adjusted you cannot get enough fluid in the cylinder to do much of anything.

Put some lash in the master cylinder pushrod and see if you can get some response from the cylinder.

Open all the bleeders on the wheel cylinders and let them drip bleed for 15 minutes and see what happens.

Keep the fluid level up while they are dripping. To get the rears to drip enough you may have to jack the front of the car up a bit.

Once they have dripped for 15 minutes they should bleed out quick and easy... I did this on Beth's car and never even had to bleed them, just close the bleeders and drive it!

(learned this bleeding brakes on Helicopters :-)

I think they are ready now. I let them drip and then bled as usual. Much air in the front at first. The fluid doesn't shoot out like I think it should, but the pedal feels good. I'll reinstall the gas tank and try them tomorrow. ( after a final adjusting )

Thanks for all the help....P.S. Clyde I found the box on my trash can outside in the rain. Shocked
