hey well i am the proud new owner of a 1971 1600 dp motor- now for the rebuild- it spins over and looks ok that way- the past owner said it has new heads -
the list of needs-
new pistons and jugs-
dual carbs
tin and cooler
exhaust
distributor
pulleys
and some cleaning
also came with a new starter and a stock exhaust--i traded my 2 drawer matco tool box for it _________________ flat black 68 with biggies on back skinny up front- no power and i dont need wax!!!always ready for icecream !!! |

If its a 71 it shoulbe an AE case with 10mm head studs... Before you do anything with it make sure that all the head studs hold 25 lb/ft of torque.... These are bad for pulling head studs.. _________________ Jake Raby

ok -- thanks for the tips this is going to be a project motor you could say do to lack of funds-i would like to get as many new parts that i can - but swapping some parts from my 1500- maybe it will be done by summer- my thought is to rebuild either as a 1641 with new cylinders and pistons(it needs has broken fin) or spit case send out to get at least an 1835- i have to check pricing on both see ya sat- _________________ flat black 68 with biggies on back skinny up front- no power and i dont need wax!!!always ready for icecream !!! |
