Time get my butt in gear and get my Westy on the road. This weekend I'll put the gas tank back in. Run new gas lines and if all goes well, I'll put the engine in too.

I've also got to put in a new battery tray. Once the engine is in and running I'll know what else it needs to be a driver.

Jon I was thinking(smell the wheels burning), can you use that bus you are parting over at the nursery as a nose donor? I don't recall it's windscreen rust being that bad. Also, if you decide to leave it, that rusted out area at the bumper you had talked about cutting off.......what about a custom built storage bumper!

That's a good thought. I'll have to look at the 71 and see what it's nose looks like. It already has the windshield out. A custom bumper with storage would be cool....get busy with that idea. Very Happy

I'm serious about getting this done. I moved all the crap I could to the crap holding side of the garage. I swept the floor and then blew it out with the compressor and ....hold on to your hat (Clyde sit down) I mopped the floor. Shocked

Yes it will get dirty again, probably tonite, but sometimes you gotta start clean. Cool

Bus is in the garage and the tank is nearly ready to go back in. The bozo's that ran today's Pinewood Derby really screwed up my plans. I was there from 9:00 am till 2:45 pm.....boneheads! I had to work in my nursery after that and now I'm getting some VW time.

Anybody that wants to come help tomorrow (Sunday the 29th) please come on over especially (sp?) if you know how to install bus shifter bushings.

That's why Wilson's not in scouts. 1st year did it for me.

Try loosening the coupler between the two rods before you get your hopes up. Tons of them are froze solid and wind up getting cut for removal.

Question Question Question Question Question Question

Not sure there is a problem, just figured while the engine is out is a good time to put in new. This bus hasn't been on the road for 10 years or more.

Only one free weekend before BAP. We can do a shifter bushing tech day in June? April and May are filled up with shows, drive ins, poker runs, etc...

I'm checking out Ratwell's site for shifter bushing procedure. I know the front one (or 2) might be a bit involved, but the rear one may not be and this way I don't have to pull the engine again later just for bushing replacement.

Steve came by and helped with the bus. We put in a new battery tray and Steve got the front bumper cleaned up, painted on the back side, and ready for mounting. I cut off the rusty bottom of the nose and little Jon and I sanded and masked the nose for painting.

The gas tank is going in tomorrow and the new gas lines are getting hooked up. The shifter bushings were in good shape and most of the protective boots on the underside are still intact.

I'm buying an alt. stand from Clyde and putting an alternator on rather than a generator.

Tomorrow I'll prime the front end.

Thanks Steve and Jon the little.

After this past weekend I am beat. I planned to go to bed early and get some rest. "Just clean the workbench off and go to bed" I told my self. Sounds good, but wait, I'll just get these Kadrons out and put them on the bench....okay I'll tear one down.....not tired anymore working on carbs.... Cool
