Just wanted to thank you guys for having this event......
Had a blast and even managed to stay mostly dry after that little shower in N.C. (got a little worried leaving there tho--I think Steve was just trying to scare us...he kept heading towards the ugly dark clouds)
Looking forward to the next one already.....
Thanks again Athens Crew..Great Job-Great Ride...... |

Anyone who took pictures, please post them in the gallery. James has it set up so you can post your own pictures. We all like to see them so post them and if you have trouble, let James or Scott B. know.
With exception of the accident, this weekend was another great Poker Run. Thank you to all who came and drove with us and thanks to all who helped put it together. It is really a team effort. Putting it all together can be trying at times, but it sure is worth it when you see a string of old VWs winding thru the mountains.
At the risk of forgetting someone (I'm still beat from this weekend) 'thank you' to Scott B. for his work on the shirt design, to Mary for taking care of hotel negotiations, and to Clyde and Steve for many hours of work getting the route, maps, prizes, food, and last minute details taken care of.
GOOD JOB GUYS! _________________ 73 Typ481

What a drive, 8+ hours each way.
Worth every minute though, Lucy and I had a great time and appreciate the overwhelming hospitality of the Athens VW club.
Feel that we made some new friends and look forward to seeing you guys in Florida soon, If not then we'll see you in Ga. soon.
AND We had the best poker hand
I sure hope that you guys will give our love to and keep us posted on the condition of Mark & (Kristina?) |
Mark, thanks to you and Lucy for making the long drive up so that you could drive some more. It was good to meet you and I look forward to seeing ya'll again this year hopefully. I was nice to see you end up with the best hand too. I love your car. It is truely one of a kind.
As you probably saw it the other thread, Mark and Christina are recovering and have no serious injuries. For that we are all thankful. _________________ 73 Typ481

We had a great time as well. Many thanks to all that had a hand in making the run a success and coming to aid when needed.
We ended our trip with a 70 mph BANG! It whipped Jennifer's ass for a half mile until it let loose.

It's the driver, NOT the vehicle. If I was driving, I would know not to drive into the pond. _________________ 73 Typ481
