I have a few motors to finish up for Joey. When they are done I'm going to start on a motor for my 68 ghia vert. I think I can build a motor to turn out over 100 hp on a $900.00 Budget. I'm not talking about cutting corners. I'm talking about a dependable daily driver 100 hp. My Goal is to have it done by Dyno days. $900.00 - 9 months - 99.99+ hp. Did I mention 1776 cc????
What do you think? Can it be done Question

As long as you plan on paying labor cost Monkey Boy you got it. I need to add a few more details I have a case, Crank, Heads, and a Cam. Also that is at the fly wheel. I Plan on 9 to 1 compression, Porting and polishing done by yours truly, Carbs to save money will probaly be Kardons, Staight cut gears lightend fly wheel, 1.4 to 1 rockers, valves are 42x37. I'm figuring 30 percent loss of hp to the wheels so 70 hp or higher reading on the dyno will mean victory.

Let's Make it a little more interesting. If it comes up short I will sell it for what I have in it.

Sounds doable, but how many miles will you get out of it? It sounds like a large amount of reused parts (which is wise in the goal of saving $) I'm not looking for an argument now. I just want to see the same motor without splitting the case in 5 years, with moderate driving wear on it. And see the temps and oil pressure, etc.

I'm going to use a used case line bored, A use crank cut 10/10 used heads, New valves, springs, and keepers, a used balanced fly wheel, rebuilt carbs, so it's not like I'm using used cams, lifters, pistons and jugs. Now as far as temps and oil pressure: full flow-all new bearings. Now 5 years of moderate driving, If I keep it the world will never Know, Not real sure what moderate driving means.

Jeff,
We all knew you had no idea of what moderate driving is. Rolling Eyes

To me, moderate driving is: driving in a way that doesn't blow something up before it wears out. No sidestepping the clutch, or lugging it, or revving to 6K in every time I go somewhere.

Your plan sounds good to me. Add balancing and go for it.

Jeff, tried to do a burnout in a '61 vert with a 36hp motor. He was trying to speed shift that old vert also. I know he will break that 1776 in right Laughing
