Everyone's welcome- we ain't the bk cruizers here. Are both of your pressure switches bad? It's pretty rare for both to go out at the same time. Try swapping the plugs to get the lights working.
I've got your scrapers in stock, outer brazil are $32 each, inner for 69-79 are $11 each (no country specified). Add 7% for Ga. sales tax.
I've never replaced the scrapers, but I'm sure between all of us, we can figure it out. _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

Ill give it a try but I'm getting power in and can jump it back out to get the brake lights to work. The bug was sitting for over 7 years. I thought I cleaned out the switches pretty good before reinstalling them.
Might just try to make it. Need to get this thing back on the road. Still trying to get the title swapped out for a tag. No big deal as I can get a bill of sale dated and already have insurance on it so I should be able to drive it to Athens. Kind of long ways to go for its first real drive. So far it's only gone about 8 miles.
Got to get tested at some point. Just dread having to get in the garage with the heat..... |

Thanks..... Looks like I'm out anyway for Saturday. I have to take my Mother back up to her house Sat. morning and want be able to attend. I'll catch it the next go around. Thanks for the offer to help.
Thanks for the write up... Will use it to help with this stuff. I got quoted $1,000 to have it done locally. Grant you that was with the good German parts. Just hard to pay 1/2 of what i have invested in the car to just do the windows. |

I wouldn't do that job for 1,000 bucks, hell I probably would not do it for 2K!!! Its the absolute worst part of restoring any beetle. _________________ Jake Raby

It was good to meet Jeff and Jeff, and thanks to Greg and his Dad, and Jon for coming out. Got a shift bushing and new coupler put in Jeff's bug, and new runningboard trim and electronic ignition on Greg's car. Thanks to Jeff for the pizza lunch! _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

Much fun! I really enjoyed the tech day. Glad I'm now able to match up an online ID with a real person now Jeff Definitely glad I went. I was originally planning on hanging around in the background and absorbing some of the great knowledge flowing around and generally getting in the way, but as it turned out we completed a couple of projects on the ole beetle A very good day indeed. _________________ 1969 Beetle

Well the day went well!
It was HOT but worth it in everyway.
It was good to put the faces with a few of you.
Thanks Clyde for the lesson on shifters,it did great on the ride home.
Now this morning i looked at the motor and there is a light spray of oil on the motor!
The only thing I/We messed with was the hose to the oil filler up to the airfilter.
After looking there is a hose fitting coming ouit of the left side of the airfilter, where does this supposed to go.
Could the oil come out of there if where we messed with that hose airflow got shut off collasped at that funkey bend adptor thingy!
Sorry i will not make the meeting today in athens.
Also thanks for the timming and eletronic ign class.
Happy Fathers Day to All.
Thanks again
Jeff
I will work on that fuel line replacement on the hot spot. _________________ Jeff Epperson

The oil spray probably has something to do with the almost closed-off adapter joint at the oil filler end of the breather hose. Jon has a few of the regular size oil fillers, or I have the aluminum ones with a regular sie hose fitting on the side. I also have the socket for removing it. Next time we meet..... _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

Thanks again for the help with the shifter.
I have come up with a fix for the hose, until i can figure out
the filler box thingy.
Also today i will be fixing the fuel line running to close to the Hot
pipe in the back.
Then i hope to drive it back and forth to work a few days to save some gas.
Looking foward to the next tech day !
