My 74 bug won't let go of it's key. I can't turn the key back far enough to remove the key. I also can't turn it forward enough to engage the starter. I felt like it was getting sticky so I gave it a shot of graphite - it didn't help. Any ideas? _________________ 73 Typ481

Drill the little hole like the Bentley manual says, and you can slide the whole cylinder out, and see what happened to it. One of the little slider thingys probably got stuck. _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

Try tapin on the end of the key with something and see if it frees up. Never seen a bug switch do this but chrysler tumblers are bad about it and thats how yo free em up to get em to shop to replace cylinder. Just an idea. I'll have time at some point tomorrow to look at it.
I got your seal kit btw so your truck should be done some time tomorrow. _________________ Shane Price

Shane, Jon has enough vehicles in his stable to keep you in business for quite some time _________________ Steve

Shane got me back up and running. He roughed it up, lubed it, and rammed it in and out a few times and now its good as new. _________________ 73 Typ481
