Bob, Thang, and I all have new (to us) camper buses. I'm starting this thread for our questions and updates on our progress. Please don't hesitate to add to this thread.

My bus is a 76 Westy that runs and drives, but needs some attention before it is 'roadworthy.' I got a new drag link and steering damper from Clyde, but have yet to install them. I need to replace the fuel lines and figure out where many disconnected wires should go.

I have all the lights working, inside and out. I have also gone thru the brakes and they work well. I'll post some pictures once I take some. Very Happy

I have a '66 double-cab. It has flipped spindles & straight axle conversion using a '68 beetle trans. I need to take some current pics.

I know Jake is the way to go for the ultimate type 4 engine, but where do we go if we just need a stock type 4 rebuild? I know Clyde could do it, but his time is filled with family and parts selling.

Is there anyone doing type 4 rebuilds?

Steering is now tight with a new steering damper (thanks Clyde) and a new drag link. Valves are adjusted, carb is adjusted, timing is set, plugs are new, and points and rotor are new.

Going to south Georgia on Sunday to pick up a bus. Got extra room if anyone wants to ride along. Cool

So Little Jon and I went south today and picked up the new bus. It is pretty solid, unfortunately it rear ended a Jeep Cherokee. The nose is crunched, but the drivetrain is good and so are the fairly new shocks and steering components. The engine has been switched to dual solex carbs, but the original fuel injection was included. Very Happy
Here are some pictures of the trip and the bus.
First stop.

My helper. Cool

Loaded and ready to roll.

We came out and headed back to the truck, I saw the bus and remembered it was flamed. I had to laugh. A flamed VW bus....awesome!

Super helper

I plan to pull the engine and trans, clean them up and put them in my bus while I get mine rebuilt.

It was a good trip and the guy I bought it from, Jeff, is a true VW guy and it was cool to meet him. Maybe he'll join here on our forums soon.
