Have you explored trying to lower that center of gravity any?? Drop that baby 6" and you'd see some big differences.. Road Atlanta will be fun, the first time you top the hill at turn 2 it gets real, carrying speed downhill through the esses is the best and then turn 5 is a wake up call... Carry speed into 6, tap the brake and heavy brake down into 7 then on the hammer wide ass open down the back straight and don the hill into the braking zone at 10A... When you go under the bridge and down the hill you better have a big pair of balls, else you'll be eating a concrete wall!
Have fun! My top speed on the back straight was 145MPH. Don't blow it up. _________________ Jake Raby

we think we got all the oil problems fixed. had the dam pickup extension brake last week. I know, I should have used something else. we got one welded on today and whille we got it open we gonna up the CR.
I could lower it til I got the wheels on it to see whats gonna rub. Gonna drop the front and rear a few inches. we are looking forward to RD. ATL. I will tell you my top speed is when I get back . |

for all you vw lovers that would love to take your bug, bus, thing, ghia, etc. on a race course, here is your opportunity. During the race weekend of May 19-20, they will be having track tours at lunch on Saturday. Here is how it works. You show up to the track @ 11:00 am. (I'm not sure if they charge anything to get in if you tell them you are there for the track tours.) They direct you over to were they are lining up. It cost $20.00 which goes to the workers fund. You sign a waiver and get a sticker. No helmet needed no rollbar. Got to wear your seatbelt. You do follow a pace car around the track at @ 70 mph on the straight. (our group got stretched out and we were running 90mph on the back straight) This last for about 40-45 minutes or until you have had enough and you pull into the pits. Its a fun way to get you vw on the track and see if the racing bug will bite you. If ya'll have any more questions, let me know and I will do my best to answer them for ya'll
This might be a great club event for us and some point and time.

Kellogg is a drag racer type.. He goes like hell on the straights and parks it in the corners.. He belongs at the Atlanta Dragway.
Blake said he saw you today, he was in a red Integra and he is also racing a Blue Civic.. Watch for the guy drifting through the corners and never using the brakes.. _________________ Jake Raby

well i was screaming down the hill to take the green, standing on it going up the hill, grabbed 3rd, went to the left then hopped the curb and about lost it. elbows and hands were real dam busy. got it straight and was pointed in the right direction, so jumped on the throttle as we went down hill grabbed 4th gear and heard a thump from the engine compartment. Alt. light came on and I just knew I threw the belt off. well because of were I stopped on the track, they threw the black flag until they could push me to a "safe" area.
Then on the next session the shifter linkage at the tranny came loose. Dam, get the motor problems work out and now I get these little stupid things. drive me crazey. But thats racing they say |

Racing is about finding the weak links.. You will learn that as you refine the car and get faster you will continue to find the weak links. Fix one thing, make it better and the next part upstream snaps in half and that continues....
Then one day you have a shelf of learning experiences, like this one...
