Does anyone know the correct hole size for for the trim clips used on 66 and earlier bugs? .. We are putting the wider early trim on my sons bug and I ran into some issues last night. I'm having a heck of a time getting these things locked in place. The rear section at the back of the c-pillar is really screwing with me. I have no way to reach in and pull the clip-rubber boot too lock into place???
Any suggestions? What size should the hole be for the early bugs?

The hole needs to be 8mm or 5/16" according to the CIP1 catalog. Jam the boot through the hole with a dull phillips screwdriver, then install the clip. _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

Thats the hole size I have... I think I need to go back and clean the back sides of the holes better. After drilling the hole I hink I have extra material folded behind the hole opening that is making the hole thicker and not letting the clip lock into place. Most of them i had to pull in from the back side but can't get to the back of these holes. |

The chrome on mine needed to be tweeked a little near the rear to stay with the body. The clips will not hold the chrome if it dont fit the body. _________________ 1962 "Red Rocket" 2110 Toy

Tried working it the best I could without it buckling. Got the cheap stuff and will look for better quality later down the road. Screwed up the hood pcs as it was the first one I tried to put on. Lesson learned.
Any suggestions on where to purchase better quality trim (pre-67)? |
