|
|
I am trying to get my bug on the road and I am having trouble getting the carb tuned so it will stay running. I can get it started and it will run beautifully but then just cut off. In my investigation I discovered that the automatic choke is getting really hot. I am wondering if the cut off and choke could be wired wrong. They are both wired directly off of the positive side of the coil, is this correct?
Thanks! I know I am new around here so as soon as I can I will post an introduction as soon as I can. |

Are they connected to the same terminal on the coil as the wire coming from the ignition switch?
I've seen quite a few cars lately with the coil mounted backwards, and it messes with my brain.
If it's connected to the side with the condenser, I could see it causing problems.
The choke works by heat, so it ought to be cold at start up, and warm up as the car warms up.
Does the shut off valve click when the key is turned on? _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

No big deal, Greg. Jeff's was the same way. The main thing is that you remember that when messing with the wiring, so you don't fry the electronic module. _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

The Shutoff & Choke are on the same terminal but it is a different terminal and they are on their own terminal.
And Yes the cut off clicks when I hook it up.
I will see if I can get a pic of my setup posted tomorrow. |

I discovered the problem I was having was caused by a sticking needle valve. I now have the bug on the road! I will try to get some pics together soon. |
