I have a little time to decide what I'm gonna do anyway. No need to be in a hurry to go fast Rolling Eyes Most likely I'll still go 1776 with dual kads. Atleast for this one. Anyway,I do appreciate all the insight and the offer to use your stuff. I will definately take advantage. Anything I can do for you dont hesitate. Cool

Go BIG or go HOME! If you build a 1776 it won't be long before you say "Why didn't I build something bigger?" Seriously.

Here Here!!! I had the 1776 doin 100 hp at the tires and wanted more. I got a 2110 and not sure why because its more that I need and I still havent got all the kinks out of it yet.

If you havent bought the Kads yet man Im tellin you for a 1776 you cant beat a small set of dells. I had 36s with bone stock not cleaned up heads doin 80 hp to the tires and with a set of ported 40x35.5s got to the 100 mark. Dells are the way to go.

If you are going to build a 1776 and buy the parts new it cost no more to go 1915. Thats the ticket in my book. If I ever build another that will be the one.

40x35.5 would be fine for heads. And if you can find a set of 041 and follow the Cal Looks Ohio Toms article on cleaning them up and a mild port job I think you would have a very nice set of heads. The key is to deside what you wont.

1. Heat or Speed
2. What RPM range are you willing to opperate in? You dont wont all your power above 4500(for example) because around town it would suck!!

Then go and follow the 1915 plan that Jake laid out and be happy when you are done because it will pull like a beast and have enough top end too.

But like jake was telling you the best place to get power is the heads. Ported vs stock on my 17776 was 20+hp. Too much porting and you dont get the bottom end for drivability.

I'm with ya. I want to make hp up to around 5500-6000 rpms but I want low end drivabilty . I drive my bug everyday and I dont want something thats a trick just to take off. Know what I mean? Something that dont fall on its face at 1500 rpm in 2nd gear.
Oh btw Jake, you are correct sir. The F.I. case is an as21. Which with further inspection will definately need alignboring. I guess I never looked at it that close cause I never really planned on using it. Its not trashed or anything.I'd say no more than .040 to clean it up. Is full flowing something I can do myself? It doesnt appear to be much to it.

Get a pair of the oval port CNC heads from CB.. The 40X35.5 valves will work fine and for this combo I'd run 9.5:1 and a Web 121/125 cam.. Its a nasty son of a bitch that still pulls well down low.

The AS 21 case is a nice case to build from, my turbo 1915 is built from one of those.. It used to be the primo case to have back in the 80s and 90s and I still prefer them.

Clyde can do the Full flow, its not hard at all... Nothing like building a sweep the floor engine, nothing is more fun to me!

Damn i'm gettin pumped! I'm ready to be done with it now! What all do I need to bring when I get ready to balance. I assume crank, rods, pistons, flywheel. I have 4-5 good cranks . I will mic and inspect and use the best one. What do you think is a good estimate as far as horsepower for this combo?

Will a stock crank work or does it need to be counter-weighted?

Shane and I have been talking about building the same combo and see how close they are to each other when we finish.

Shane if you order a cam, get two. Very Happy

Are these the heads? http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=1794

Keep that crank light.. counterweighting not needed. Hell I cut weight off of cranks!

They'll probably make 125HP if you put real carbs on them, like a 44 weber or 45 dellorto with a merged header.

Don't build the same combo, build them differently and see who makes the most power.

these are what I have on my 2110. The 1776 had 041s that Steve did a stage 3 on. they were great and had the 40x35.5 and not the bigger 42x37s I have now. Not sure that the bigger valves are helping me too much? Wink
