FYI
I just found out that if you are running one of the Georgia Antique Car "hobby" license plates on your car, the State is charging an additional tax of $35 per year. The ad valorem on one of my cars is only $22 per year, so it is not worth paying an additional $35 per year for one of these ugly plates. If you are running a year of manufacture plate (real antique tag), the $35 per year fee does not apply. _________________ Steve

A big surprise to me. I noticed my tag jumped from $22.69 to $57.69 for my VW tags. Steve was it easy to register YOM plates for your car? The people at the DeKalb tag office will probably give me a big hassle when I show up with 6 old 60's license plates in hand wanting to use them on my cars _________________ Give me a salad & a PBR please |

There is a form for YOM plates on the Georgia DMV website. Just download & print a copy & fill it out. Take it, your current registration & your tag to your county tag office & they will mate that tag number to your registration. Remember to carry your "official" GA tag somewhere in your vehicle in case you are stopped by the law _________________ 63 Beetle |

When we registered my Sons bug I was going to get the antique tag but when i found out that it was now an extra cost I passed.... Goverment at work.... They figured they could increase reveniew by charging more for the tags and figured $35 would be a price people would pay.... Wrong. I would have popped for maybe $10 or even $15 but now they want be getting anything from me. I'll be dropping the Jeeps come march. Not worth the cost to me. |

Here's the link:
http://motor.etax.dor.ga.gov/forms/motor.aspx
Click on Forms and Manuals. There's also a Bill of Sale form on
there, that can come in handy.
Note: they don't charge you extra for running YOM plates. _________________ 63 Beetle |
