I think every VW nut in town asked about that car, when it was under a tarp in Watkinsville a few years back. Good to see it back on the road.

Well got great news today the fasty is runnin and Shane is the man !Found out when i did the engine install I over looked the rear main leaking so it trashed the clutch.Good thing I had an extra one with the press plate in the garage. So now a new clutch and carbs in sync and alot of new seals she should be ready to roll. It looks like I might start the new year off with a cruise in the fasty. Thanks again to Shane!

The good news is: if you take it easy, it can last a long time the way it is. That way you have time to save up for the rebuild.

Get a short bungee cord and hook it to the passenger seat frame, then hook it around the shifter. That'll keep it in 4th gear. Worked for almost 20 years on my 67 Westy, until I finally got around to replacing the transaxle.
