|
|
I have 5 hp/26 gallon 110 volt compressor now and it cycles more than I want it to when I use my sandblast cabinet. I want to be able to blast or paint or run a DA sander without having to stop and wait for the compressor to catch up. What parameters do I need to look for? I'm guessing the biggest thing is tank size and SCFM? The SCFM on my current compressor are 8.1@40psi and 6.3@90psi with a max of 125psi.
Can somebody give me some guidance? _________________ 73 Typ481

CFM is how fast it can produce pressure. More is better. _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

the sand blaster will eat a compressor up in no time. I dont even try it with my big compressor. I sub all mine out. Any air tool will use a good bit of air. If you are going to by one, get the one with the largest tank you can get. |

Jon, The air consumption of the tool being used dictates how big of an air compressor you need in order to keep up. I use a 220v compressor that is rated at 11.5 CFM @ 90 PSI and it actually shuts off while using my tank type blasters. With the table top, it's off more than on. I bought it at Lowes. I think this is the one. http://tinyurl.com/3f4w4y4
Edit: I checked my compressor and it is a 13.5 CFM @ 90 PSI and is not the same as in the listed URL. I went to Lowe's website and don't see the exact same model. _________________ Ya can't have too many VDUBS.

Get a commercial one from a closed up gas station like I did! Works great with everything I throw at it! _________________ '58 RHD 2110cc Beetle
