Pulled engine to replace pushrod tubes. Put motor back in with no issue. Now when it cranks the starter makes a God awful noise the the motor fires up just fine. Any ideas on the noise and what to do to resolve it. It does not sound good!!

Is yours an auto, and if not did it have a bushing in the end of it?If its manual make sure your put the bushing in place.I believe that is correct.I had the same problem on my 67 and i had to put the bushing back in. _________________ "Dream like you will live forever, and live like you will die tomorrow"

Maybe the starter shaft needs a touch of grease?
Or your flywheel isn't torqued to 300 ft lbs
Or there's a grizzly sleeping under it who doesn't want to be disturbed _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

I put a touch on the tip that goes in the bushing. Did not remove the flywheel. I checked for the bear. I was hoping that was it. The only other change was a new ignition switch. _________________ 73 SB - Present
