Borrowed a pressure washer to clean my tranny with. Rear brakes have been assembled and are waiting to be put on at Volkstock.
I replaced the rear brake shoes and am getting disc brakes on the front. I still have the old brake shoes that are useable. If anyone wants them they can have them.

The wheel cylinders I put on yesterday are new but I found I nice set of NOS ones in a box of stuff my dad has been saving for my car for 15 years. It was a simple swap and now we have 2 more cylinders in stock. This box contained so many goodies I'll be surprised if next Christmas is this good . Just restored an old Carter fuel filter that was in that box. It'll look nice on the engine. Now we just gotta hope the rain stays away this week so we can get the chassis painted. |

Bottom of chassis is sand blasted and first coat of silver rust protectant stuff is on. Top of tranny has been pressure washed and mostly shined with a wire brush. Completely forgot to wash the underside of the tranny so I'll be doing that tomorrow. Looks like the chassis will be ready in time for Volkstock |

Thanks, my motivation is having it ready in time to bring it to your house to work on it but seeing as you live in your house and you can work on your car anytime there I can see how you would be lacking in motivation. My motivation will probably be gone in about a week. |

Nice work this past weekend Wilson. It almost looked like a car when you left.
Keep the thread going!
Besides, Clyde isn't busy this time of year anyway -
Keep workin' on your beetle project and keep us all posted.

All new brake lines are in except for two on the rear driver's side. The metal brake line kits we sell are meant for 67 and later bugs so some of the lines were to long, some were missing, and some were in there but don't go on the car. |

Here's some pictures of the progress we made at Volkstock.
I've been working on some stuff so when we go to build the engine it'll just be an assembly and not much busy work getting parts ready. Here's a restored ZV/PAU 4R 5 distributor to replace the type 3 version that was on it, a vintage fuel filter made in U.S.A (better looking than those cheap plastic ones made in India), and the fuel pump I just finished restoring.
Also just installed a new clutch cable, bowden tube, late model pedal assembly with my early model pedals, master cylinder pushrod, and all brake parts (only missing the fluid). |

Glad to see you are staying motivated....Be careful with that missing BRAKE FLUID!! (I hear that can make in difference in your ability to stop the car)

Was paying a visit this evening to see about some machine work and various options for my engine build, and got to check out the great work on that '63 pan. I especially like the disc setup in front. I've gone with drums for now on my car, but since some beam work may be in order down the road (maybe next winter's project) I may switch to discs in front.
Who made yours? Are the spindles dropped? Was it difficult to set up? Anyhow, it looks great and tidy, and inspiring! _________________ 1965 Beetle |

Thanks. My kit is made by AC. I got it from SoCal. It is not dropped spindles, it's stock height but I'd suggest getting the dropped kit, it'll save you about $100. The instructions that came with it were no help at all but I installed it at Volkstock so the necessary knowledge was present. |
