I've been using Curil K2, but would Loctite 518 do any better?
And I'm tempted to use Dirko around the cam plug- should I?

518 is too rigid for a Mag T1 case... The case flex is too great.

K2 is the best thing I've ever used, it kept my 912E engine dry for 160,000 miles. For added protection use some wax coated dental floss mixed in the K2, it will crush completely and works very well. On some race engines I have used nothing but dental floss and they never have leaked.

518 is great for a lot of things, but no case sealer.

Fuji Bond, used by Subaru on their engines, is one of the best gasket sealers on the market. I think that ThreeBond is the same product. I've always had good luck with it.

Is it critical to get the floss to lay flat? It really likes to fold at the bends near the front bottom and rear bottom of the case, where it has to curve. Next time I might just use a few strands rather than the whole flat floss?

Clyde, If you ever take apart your old late 90's Raby 1776 you'll find some dental floss :-)

Don't matter if it lays flat or not, it will crush flat under compression.
