So I believe that I have found the bus I've been looking for (I'll have to drive up to VA to be sure) but one of the last things I am required to do by my parents is to actually drive a Westy in order to fully round off my decision.
I humbly ask that someone here would be so kind to let me drive theirs around the block with them.
You have all been more than generous with your time and advice!
Thank you,
-Sam

Driving one is a very good idea. They don't drive like a regular car. I love the way they drive and steer; sitting over the wheels that steer gives you a different perspective.

Not do be the downer guy, but as this is to be your daily driver, I want to be sure that you have considered a couple of bus realities.
1. They are not fast. You learn to slow down and enjoy the ride.
2. Heat is weak to fair at best.
3. No AC and you live in GA.
4. If you get a late bay, not a lot of people know how to work on a type 4.

Again, I'm not trying to talk you out of a bus, I just want you to have your eyes wide open going in.

That being said, can you post a link to the bus in VA?

X2 what jon said. Plus they need more maintenance than a new car. Valves and brakes need adjusting every couple thousand miles.

but....with all that being said.....I still wouldn't take twice what I paid for mine. They do give another perspective. The bus forces you to slow down and enjoy the journey.

Greg, could Sam give your bus a test drive?

I hope to have mine back on the road by the end of the weekend and if I do, mine will be available.

Sam, have you seen this ad ?

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1342273

I forgot about this one until tonight. I talked to Chadd (the seller) about it a while ago and it sounds like it may be what you are looking for. You might even get Chadd to put it back to stock height as part of a deal. Very Happy

The best part is that it is only an hour from here.
