I have a new addition to our project list. Rick Hester's 63 Bug has fallen into a bit of disrepair. It has been stored outside and not started regularly. The interior has had too much water in it and the gas is old and dead. Rick's wife has reached out for some help getting it running again.
Jake Raby has the bug at the present time and is working on getting it running properly. He is rebuilding the carb and cleaning the fuel system. Once he has it running I told him we would go thru the brakes at Volkstock and attend to any other attention needing items.
I'm not sure how we will get it from Jake's to Ken's because it is lowered. I don't think a tow bar will work and I know my trailer is too tall to be able to load it. It could possibly be driven once Jake has it running, but the brakes are still questionable. Ideas??? _________________ 73 Typ481

Not easily. It may be possible with some wood used to extend the ramps, but as it is the bumper and apron will hit the ramps. _________________ 73 Typ481

I'll be there also for the weekend.
It is time to resurrect the 63 Beetle. I've neglected it long enough. It needs cleaning inside and out, tune up, and brake lines. _________________ Steve

I think this is resolved and the bug should be delivered Friday morning. Now I just need to worry about getting Steve's bug and Mary's Squareback there. _________________ 73 Typ481

The old 63 cranked right up. Jon had his jumper box & squirted a little fluid on the air cleaners. Not too shabby for 2 year old gas in the tank. Tires are holding air, and the car idled for a good 20-30 minutes. Idled with the help of a deflated football jammed on the pedal. Jon got the trailer positioned just right, and we drove her ride into place without issue. It is ready to be driven.
It needs some TLC this weekend:
fuel lines, fresh gas, brake lines (hard & soft), change brake pads (which I have), fresh Brad Penn, & a wash.
Clyde, if you have brake lines, fuel lines, and Brad Penn handy, that would be great. If not, we'll improvise.
This car wants to be driven again, and I'm excited about hitting the road again. I'd post pictures, but I forgot how too
I'm looking forward to this weekend. Stay away rain! _________________ Steve
