I have done some searching but have not found the answer that I was looking for. When I go to a type IV motor in a ghia, what kind of tranny do i need and what kind of modification do I have to do to it. This is for a future car build so I got some time but thought if I knew what to look for I may run across a good deal. Any advice will greatly be appreciated.
Thanks to all

I don't have a clue myself. If you don't get an answer here, try:

and pose your question on the Ghia forum. _________________ Ya can't have too many VDUBS.

The stock tranny will work, it is the flywheel asssembly that will need to be changed.
I'm sure Jake will shed more light on this for you Ron. _________________ 73 Typ481

The 62 and later TI tranny is all thats needed..
Simply use the 210mm bus flywheel, modified for a pilot bearing, matching clutch disc and pressure plate and it all works with the OEM TI starter.
Clearancing of the tranny case is NOT necessary IF the trany was 12 volt to begin with.
The 210mm Bus flywheel is the same OD as the 200mm 12 Volt TI flywheel and has the same ring gear placement. _________________ Jake Raby

hey thanks there Jake. I already have a TI tranny at the house that I had planned on building one of these days. When I get to that project I will send the flywheel over to you to do right. thanks for the info. Now if I could just get mama to turn loose of some money I would be all right. |
