Clyde,
Bring a long throttle cable... I believe the longest was from a '74 Ghia.. We might need it since the 181 cable is short..

Tito is Josh and Josh is Tito...something about witness protection or maybe it's a mixed up world as in the Kink's song Lola. I don't know, but leave your message and Tito will magically get it. Very Happy

I've got 38 burgers, 28 hot dogs, buns, cheese, doritos, cheetos, and 35 waters on ice. Steve's picking up pickles, and if anyone wants to bring lettuce and/or onions I'll reimburse you (I just ran out of time).

I may not make it by 4pm.....

I had a great time this weekend. Ken and Inge, you are wonderful folks--thanks for the hospitality! Inge, thanks for the medical attention and Ken, thanks for the "false alarm" lift back to my bus. Scott, you macked the torsion adjustment and thanks to Jim and Joe for technical support...glad I could assist some too! Jake, thanks for the knowledge bombs and making us look good with the Porsche in the front! Everyone else, it was awesome watching you work. Steve, thanks for supervising and grilling! Ladies, your presence probably kept us from getting to drunk and out of hand! Tito, watch your weight and get a red halogen flashlight to let folks know you are stopping! Ted, Pete, and Mindy... thanks for bringing other buses. Pat and Walt, thanks for the tools and representing with the vannie. Gary, thanks for supervising with Steve! And HUGE thanks to the "lug nut" posse, The KSCJ Lug Nut Crew...Ken, Scott, Clyde, and Jim... That being said, the crew is officially disbanded and we can all forget that ever happened...

"The lug nut incident never happened..."

Jim,
Always tighten your lug nuts twice and use a torque wrench! "I told ya so!"... Whats the first question I asked when you walked up :-)

I also had a great time at the event!! The pace was really moving quickly and it took me all day to get used to working around "others" again..

Looking back at what got done in less than 24 hours, its pretty amazing!! Especially considering the lack of tools and equipment that everyone was working with...

I was glad to be of assistance to anyone there.. It felt good to mix back with my old VW buddies and not have the crap that I typically have to deal with at events looming over my head... The stalkers really get old..

I regret that I didn't get the opportunity to have a "timing" lesson, as it is such a critical aspect of these engines. But I was able to walk some people through valve adjustments and treehive might have avoided an engine failure that would have been imminent had his #4 exhaust valve gotten any tighter...

I can't think of a time when I have done a Type 4 conversion in a single day and was able to drive it that same day.. I hope Jon enjoys that engine as much as I enjoyed showing you guys how a "Big Block" fits into a Type 1.. Everyone there was pretty amazed when we slid the engine into place just as easy as a stocker..

Those damn carbs need some run time, but I think they'll straighten out with some Marvel Mystery oil in the gas..

I really had a good time and Ken and Inge are the absolute best hosts.. They have one hell of a comfortable sofa too!!

I am looking forward to the next one of these events, next time I'll come prepared to stay over night so I don't have to walk into Golden Corral looking like a homeless person thats been sleeping under a train all night, covered with exhaust and grease.. Damn I love that!
