OK
Thanks to Scott I now have an oil bath air cleaner with a heat hookup. But I dont have any provisions to run heat to the cleaner, can I disconnect one of the sides of the dog house and pull the heated air off of the heat exchanger?
Or, Do I use one of the connectors that are on my old muffler and wrap it around one of the header tubes for the pre heated air?
Also the heated air intake is close to the batt post on my alternator, I think I will rivet some rubber on the bottom of the intake or make a clearance dimple just in case..........dont want any fires. |

Air from the heaterbox will be way too hot.. The stock arrangement robbed air that was being emitted from the cylinders and heads and then recirculated it back into the intake.
If you have a header, just fabricate a tube that will suck the air into the intake from near a header tube.
Watch that B+ terminal on the alternator, thats serious amperage and isn't protected by a fuse. _________________ Jake Raby

Good times to be had by all when you short that terminal with a screwdriver. |

It works so far.
With the cooler temps and light rain the conditions were right for the freezing and I was able to drive around all day. Manifold was warm and dry.
The real test comes tomorrow morning. Next project DEFROST! |
