TWEETY (Inge's 73' VW) is very happy that the Poker Run is this upcoming weekend:

- License Plate Light repaired...(SHORT Blowing a Fuse)
Very Happy

- Passenger Rear Running Light repaired ...(Loose socket/bulb)
Very Happy

- Leaking Valve Covers...(worn Gaskets - Thanks Gary!!)
Very Happy

- Valves Set....(Yes, I used the .006 feeler gauge Clyde)
Very Happy

- New Oil...(Tonight)
Very Happy

- Tools, Oil, Belts, Rags, Etc. in the car!

I can hardly wait to get this girl on the road...Look out HELEN, here we come!

The issue is that I would need to bring the kids as they are mine for the weekend. My wife's other hubbie (her study for her PhD) is claiming her both Saturday and Sunday... I gotta bow out... :-(

Just a few more days to the 5Th annual Poker Run!

This year we will start at the hotel at 10am on the nose.

We have a lot of territory to cover, and a lot of great stops.

No state parks that wanna charge for a quick stop.

We'll have four of us that will lead different packs in case we get separated...so it will be follow your pertinent leader.

We have fewer in-town maneuvers to make, so less chance of getting lost.

As Jon mentioned, the restaurant at Pappy's Corner is CASH ONLY...so please get cash and gas prior to 10am on Saturday.

There is a BP station with an ATM right across the street from the hotel.

Since this is a 115 mile trip, we'll have a chance to stop in Hiawassee for gas near the DQ designated stop, if your car gets losey mileage or your gauge is all over the place (like mine).

Our first and third stops will take a little time, but stops two and four will be quick stops so that we'll have ample time at aircooled heaven to see all the new features and creature comforts that Jake has installed.

Afterward we'll do prizes and grill burgers (beer) at the hotel.

Mike, are you picking up Ben along the way?

Just a point of clarification, we will do prizes at Jake's. That way anyone who wants to head home rather than going back to Helen can do so.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend. I had really looked forward to seeing everyone, driving the great roads, and touring Jake's shop but it just isn't going to happen.

Right now the forecast is 30% chance of scattered showers. The % chance has been decreasing all week. Cool

Even if we do hit a shower, they tend to be in small pockets in the mountains.

I've been checking www.weather.com and putting in Helen GA or Hayesville NC.
