My Lord...judging from the damage to the car, it looks like they are lucky just to be alive! Glad to hear they are both on the mend and hope they will both be home soon. _________________ Beth Raby |

After that impact I'd expect somethimng on the engine to be broken..
I flipped a 70 beetle 4 times, wasn't wearing a seat belt and walked away from it... The cars are tougher than people think.
Heck, I wasn't as sore from that crash as I was when I was the passenger in a Mercedes 300E that flipped 11 times, did three endos, and broke a power pole in 3 places... But we were running 135 MPH :-)
They are very lucky, especially with an impact of that caliber hitting such a large vehicle. _________________ Jake Raby

Just got in from seeing Jim. Looks like he will have to stay in ICU a little longer. Has some blood clots in his legs and they are going to put something in to catch them.
He is in good spirits and was showing the pics of the car to his doctors that he wanted me to bring. We also talked about his helicopter ride that had to make an emergency landing before he made to the hospital. (door kept coming open) _________________ 73 Super

Looks like it was atleast an eventful ride...
I always liked flying with the door open... and a .50 cal hanging out of it :-) _________________ Jake Raby

Just got word that Jim had to go back in surgery to have his splene removed. They have given him 5 pints of blood in the last two days. If anyone wants to or can give blood. You can give blood in care of Jim Nordmann and it will credit his hospital bill. _________________ 73 Super

Kathee called me back last night and totd me everything went allright.
Funny how something that you can live with out can really screw things up for someone. _________________ 73 Super

Sounds like he's got some nasty internal injuries. Those can be a real bitch to catch and treat. Hope the surgery to remove his spleen went well and he's back on the right track.
Anyone thought about taking up a collection or anything for them? I'm sure those medical bills will be piling up fast _________________ Beth Raby |

We packed three boxes of food and other necessities which we took to Augusta yesterday. Unfortunately we were unable to deliver them since Jim was being rushed into surgery. We hope to get back down there soon to deliver them. Since Jim was laid off right before the accident we know that anything will help at this time. |
