I stopped at a house that has a '58 Beetle sedan in the drive today after having driven past it for years. It is blue and the bumbers and bumper brackets are pretty rusted. The tail lights, headlights, and turn signals are intact. The engine is supposed to have only 300 miles on it before parked in the 80's...it's all there (36hp) but didn't turn...I is probably in gear. There is rust at the bottom tip of the engine lid. The pan looks good, the front end/body (apron, bumber brackets, pass front fender under the headlight) is shot with rust. The beam looks ok. The body is mostly solid otherwise (somewhat dinged and dented) and the running boards don't sag too bad when I put weight on them. I have yet to see the inside as he has a bunch of junk in the car. All the exterior trim seems to be there. All glass is intact. Anyone have an idea what this might be worth?

Check the heater channels once you can open the doors. That's a costly repair, but worth it on a car this old. If they're shot, offer him a couple hundred maybe???

Here is a nice 58 on a 64 pan. $5400

And the rest on TheSamba are $8500 to $22,000. None on Ebay.

58 rag project on Craigs List for $1500.

Start at $500 and graduate to either your desire or wallet.

Good luck.
