VW says they are only interested in the Grand Am series which NASCAR owns. We will see.? Maybe we will see Herbie kicking NASCAR ass after all. _________________ 73 Typ481

For a while now a small shop in Charlotte has been buying every Porsche Cayenne V8 engine that pops up for sale online and at scrap yards... The rumor is that these engines are being used as test beds for VW in NASCAR since VW and Porsche are now integrated. _________________ Jake Raby

Interesting...but I would assume that the Cayenne uses an OHC engine. Can't see NASCAR ditching carbs and pushrods...but who knows. |

The article Ron posted the link to, says NASCAR is tentatively planning to go to fuel injection in 2011. _________________ 73 Typ481

The Cayenne engine could be retrofitted to a flat tappet pushrod style arrangement..
But who knows they may allow DOHC engines along with EFI in the future.
Its about time those loser boys went to EFI, EVERY other form of motorsports has been primarily EFI for the last 15 years.. ALMS is running ethanol and has a "green challenge" at every race. The difference is they don't drive 500 miles in a circle chasing their tails.
we call it ASSCAR for a reason _________________ Jake Raby

Le Mans was an active track in the 1920s and still is today, it was around BEFORE prohibition in the US.. Take a trip to Road Atlanta and go under the bridge for a trip DOWN HILL through turn 12 at over 100 MPH and you'll see what a real race track is made of.
My Grandpa was a moonshiner all his life.. He quit school at the age of 10 and owned a car when he was 12... He died at 89 years old having NEVER had a job. The house on the shop property had a still in operation in it's basement for over two decades that produced 900 gallons per week.. The remains of it are still in the basement along with the blast damage where the feds blew it to bits in 1968.. _________________ Jake Raby
