Okay, so I sanded down the fenders on my bug and they are just shot full of Bondo. Can't see putting them back on the car. I'll hang onto them, though -- a talented metal man (or possibly myself in the distant future) might be able to finesse them back.
Twenty some-odd years ago I replaced the fenders on another beetle with aftermarket. Fit was so-so, but they looked good for a daily driver. My current project will not be a show-car, but a nice sunny-day-driver. I know that nothing will be as nice as original German tin. Has anyone had any experience with new aftermarket fenders lately? If so, from where? _________________ 1965 Beetle |

NOS (new old stock) is the way to go if you want thick ones that fit right. They may cost more, but it's worth it 'cause it'll save a lot of headaches. _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam

Yeah, I was thinking that too. But I think I got the next best thing. Joey up at All Around Restos hooked me up with some used German fenders. They're slightly dinged with some small tears, but for the price I can work with it. Much better than the ones I pulled off my car. He also sold me a brand new windshield for a really great price! _________________ 1965 Beetle |
