I need to find someone to fix second gear in my car. It jumps out of second when you let the clutch out or let off the gas. You can hold it in gear without much effort at all on the shifter.
So who does trans repairs (Jake?). It has a super diff, SB Main shaft, Welded Gears, ...... and was built by Ronnie Hunter before he passed away. I will pull it and deliver it to the shop but would like to make sure it is good to go before reinstall.
Let me know when I can drip it off at the shop . _________________ 1962 "Red Rocket" 2110 Toy

Sounds like it needs to be adjusted...
Pull the gear stack and take an old trans case and cut the side out of it, bolt your gear stack into it and adjust the second gear shift fork for better engagement.... This happens when you hit second gear hard a few times. _________________ Jake Raby

That sounds easy . This must have happened at the same time I broke the hockie stick. So I guess you wouldnt be intrested in making that adjustment? I just dont have a shop and the driveway dont seem to be the best place to be cracking a trans open. _________________ 1962 "Red Rocket" 2110 Toy

Man, we are wide ass open and I'd hate to commit to this and not be able to deliver anytime soon.. We are trying to stay focused on backlog and we are moving shops at the same time into the new building.
You might call Steve Sands and see if he can help, he is closer and might be a tad bit faster than I would be. _________________ Jake Raby

Cool Ill give Steve a call. Never hurts to ask(beg).

Come on dude, give me a little credit. I was kidding. If it was a Honda or Toyota trans I would jump all over it.I've built plenty of those . But not many vw trannys and no performance stuff. So it would take me a while. _________________ Shane Price

Not a slam at all. I just wont to get someone who can get it rite and from what I hear the shift fork adjustment and quite as easy as it sounds to get it rite. Thats why I was tring to get Jake roped into doin it. If I brake off into it Ill give you a call and see if you wont to jump in it with me.
I just dont slow down enough to use second . Keeps me from using a bungie. I did the bungie on an old Courier 5 speed for 3 years without a problem. But at the time they were cheep to get replacement units for. I cant afford to replace this one rite now thats why Im being so carefull. _________________ 1962 "Red Rocket" 2110 Toy

I toured Mike Gagnier's shop in Troutman, NC a few weeks ago- sweet setup. His main focus is tranny's. He's a racer, too. I think He has a samba ad?
I've got his fliers at home. _________________ '69 Bug, 1776, dual kadrons, Web 111 cam
